Think I'm overdoing it a teeny bit? Well, whatever. Knives was by request... I'd been meaning to get around to him, but hadn't found any workable images. They're hard to come by. Knives usually just lurks in the background of Vash images looking psychotic, and that doesn't translate well to skinning. And major thanks to Jerra and VejitaForeva for sending the church screencaps for the second "Hallelujah" skin.

Nn. It turned out better than I thought - I kind of gave up on it in despair midway through before picking it up again - but it's still not the best. I was going for a desert look, suggested by the original, brown-ish, background of the poster I scanned to make this, but it came out... bleh. I shouldn't have gotten so attached to the idea of making yet another Vash skin. I like the image, which came from a promo poster for the manga, but I should have done something different with the skin itself. The title is from the song by U2, and the lyrics are included in the readme. |

Because the first version just wasn't blue enough!
You know, one of the most interesting things about Trigun is its treatment of religion. It uses Judeo-Christian symbolism in a not-terribly-subtle way, but that's not what I meant. There's also the fact that, while Wolfwood's accessorizing with crosses looks like just a fashion choice, he really does seem to believe - and that's something you almost never see in anything, even in the US. Anime tends to use Christianity as just another mythology, which is pretty fascinating in its own right, especially for someone like me in the middle of the Bible Belt. And the fact that this show doesn't just makes Trigun all the more different and interesting. God, this doesn't sound like one of my normal skin blurbs at *all.* Maybe I should get drunk. |

I didn't realize until I was halfway through with it how very much this resembled the Meryl "Into the Wilderness" skin. Apparently, I'm in reruns. I'm not so happy with the playlist, but then, when *am* I? This is a semi-request skin (for Cyrus). I still fill them, I guess. I'm just likelier to do so if you have a site that makes me laugh. And if you're willing to wait for all eternity. That helps too. |

This isn't exactly the background I wanted - I was hoping for the church from Ep. 23 - but it'll do in a pinch. I really like the actual background image, I'm just not sure it works as a background. I also hate the numbers, but I do like this one, overall. It helps that I'm stoned on sinus medication, I think. The title comes from a song written by Leonard Cohen but performed, in the version I have, by Jeff Buckley. It sounds remarkably like "Rakuen," the track that plays during *that* scene in ep. 23. Lyrics and further rambling in the readme. |

And a Knives skin. I think I've now covered all the major characters, so I guess the Gung-ho Guns are my next target. Knives reminds me of my brother - they're both spider-hating misanthropes. Knives also sort of resembles my friend Chuck physically, though not so much in this image. I'm also trying to figure out where the hell the name "Millions Knives" comes from. I mean, seriously, what the hell was Rem THINKING? "Oh, he won't grow up to be a violent psychotic with a name like this, not at all!" Aaaaanyway. It's not wonderful, because there's an overwhelming shortage of decent Knives images. And it's so very green. But it's light-years better than my Gunnm and FF8 skins. Of course, what isn't? Volume is invisible, hidden in his face. I hate invisible volume bars. |
