Slayers was suggested for skinning by Mountain Blue, and this is exactly the way I like suggestions to work. See, I've heard of Slayers, enough to put names to most faces. I've watched a bit of it, and rather liked it, but it was an utter non-presence in my life, so it's not something I would have done on the own. I have no built-in biases or opinions on any characters, so I don't have to deal with "I hate this character AND his skin sucks, stop downloading it!" And the art's not too ornate for my usual skinning style. Yay! Plus, I'd forgotten how cute Gourry was. Addendum: Some years after I started making Slayers skins, I have now seen all the Slayers that counts; I refuse to watch anything containing Naga. Pretty much. I mean, I'd watch them if it'd save hostages or raise money to fight cancer or something, my hatred of good ol' Bouncyboobs isn't that strong, but I'm not going to watch the OVAs voluntarily.

I finally found the correct Amelia image, only to take about a year in the skinning of it. I had to flip it, too, but hopefully that's not too obvious - the most directionally-oriented part of her design is the cowlick, and that's cut off at the top of the skin. Of course, now that I've pointed it out probably no one will be able to ignore it. I suck. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, though - orange is hard to work with even when it's not smooshed together with purple, so when a skin involving those colors turns out not looking like a hangover feels I'm inordinately proud.
I love Amelia. She makes me laugh, and I don't understand why everyone doesn't love her for the same reason, but then for some inexplicable reason people insist on having their own preferences and opinions even when they're different from mine. Weird. |

And here's Lina's entry. Bless her, she posed off to the right, making it much easier to set up her image for skinning. Who'd've thunk she'd be the tractable one? I like this quite a bit, though it proved surprisingly difficult - somehow, despite the fact that it's nothing but blue, the color scheme ate my lunch. My favorite color is turning on me! I feel betrayed. |

Zel's not half-bad either. ^^
Call this the photo-shoot set. I really like these, and I have one for Lina, too... and they're tagged as being for Next, which, granted, I haven't seen, but shouldn't they at least have one for Amelia, too? Where's it at? This one turned out relatively well, despite the fact that apparently he's collapsed in an alleyway for some reason (which is not a problem, necessarily, but makes for a drab background) and despite the fact that, once again, I had to draw in part of the background. These guys have got to start posing more off to the right of their images. |

<fangirl mode> This image is neck-and-neck with the "Half-naked Zechs drinking Wild Turkey" shot for the title of Greatest Thing Ever Drawn. I mean, I know he's dumber than a bag of hammers and all that, but just look at him! </fangirl mode>
Okay, got that out of my system. Good skin, really, all hormones aside. I like the blues, I did a passable job extending the image to the left, and when it comes to skinning, I did better than I feared I would with the big patch of wall. There are a few small issues, but I'm not going to bring them up in hopes that you won't notice if I don't point them out. I think the title came from a Slayers track or something (actually, from a crayon, I guess, but the blue isn't that dark, so I have to justify it in other ways.) |

I don't know.... when I look at this skin, I mostly think of the opening bit of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," when Arthur keeps grumpily thinking "Yellow" while the presence of bulldozers in his front yard just doesn't quite sink in. For some reason that's one of my favorite parts in the book.
So, yeah. Yellow. I kind of like it. The title came from a line in translated lyrics to one of his image songs. I think the image is supposed to be from one of the novels, or something, but I don't really *care,* so don't email me with chapter and verse, okay? I'm just doing this because it looks neat. |
