Gallery

One of the questions I get the most is "where do you get your images?" And the actual answer is "everywhere." I've been making skins or trying to for three years. I've been online and collecting images for other purposes for much longer than that. And often I scan them myself - I've been know to buy things just so I could scan them, because I am strange.

Some of the images in this section are my own scans, while others come from various galleries. I tried to pick images that I've gotten questions about in the past and which other people have had trouble finding. In the cases of my own scans, people had trouble finding them because they're not up anywhere else to speak of - doujinshi are not in as wide circulation as, say, Eva posters. This section is not going to be comprehensive or all that huge, though it is subject to change and expansion.

She's so popular, I figured I ought to... snagged from a gallery somewhere. I think I get the most questions about this image. From another gallery. Dating-sim Rei! Also from a gallery. Scanned from a deck of playing cards.
Also from a gallery - included because the skin that came from this was very editing-heavy and I wanted people to see how much work was entailed getting from here to there. I scanned this from a poster. This isn't a full scan of the poster, but it got most of Vash. Kaoru, scanned from a doujin cover. Yes, the book itself is porn. No, this particular image is not. Kaoru from the nishiki-e series. Not one of my scans.
Van, drawn by Higuri You. Scanned from a doujin anthology. Van, drawn by Tohda Hiroko. Scanned from a doujin anthology. Van, drawn by Sugisaki Yukiru. Scanned from a doujin anthology. Citan, scanned from a doujin cover.
Hopefully that was helpful. If you really want to look for good-quality images, some links I've found helpful (all links open in new windows):

Anime Project Alliance - Probably the biggest and best general anime image gallery out there. It's especially valuable to me for its high-res scans, which make editing much, much easier. The direct link to the gallery is here, and they also have the beginnings of a screencap gallery - I say it like it's small. Compared to the scan gallery, it is, but it'd still be a shriek-worthy find all on its own.

Ultimate Animanga Series Index - Once my go-to site for images - I don't think it's been updated in a long time, but it's still full of large, high-quality images for a wide range of series.

RPG Dreamers - A big gaming archive with lovely screenshot galleries - almost fills the void left by the absence of the GIA, which I still miss.

RPGamer - Another big gaming archive - the galleries are of varying quality, but they're always at least worth a look.

RPGFan - And another big gaming archive. The image section is here. Check out the wallpaper, which seems to consist of official goods from the game designers, as far as I can tell.

Absolute Evangelion Image Gallery - The best Eva image gallery on the web.

The Inuyasha Shrine - Lots of content and lots and lots of Inuyasha images.

Empty Movement - My God, this site is amazing. The content kicks ass and the gallery owns me.

Mangadoodles - Nice selection of images for a nice selection of series - Inuyasha, RuroKen, Fruits Basket and Trigun, among others.

Random - As the title suggests, it's random - an image rotation. And now it's back on its permanent host.

Electronic Renaissance - I got a couple of Eva images I couldn't find anywhere else from this site, and there are scans for X, Saiyuki, Angel Sanctuary and others. All the images are gloriously high-quality.

.hack - The Cyberconnect site has a lot of game-related images - mostly CG, often 640 x 480 renditions of the in-game wallpapers. The site's in Japanese but it's not that hard to find your way around.

This isn't an exhaustive list by any means. I just wanted to add a few links and show off a few scans I thought people might be interested in. And try to explain - I mean, it always struck me as funny that anybody asked where I got my images, like I had some special source, when in actuality searching for images I can use is a constant source of frustration.
