Final Fantasy IX

I love this game. It comes in a close second to FF6, and it has quite simply the best ending in any video game I've ever played. Zidane and Garnet are cuter than Squall and Rinoa! And Zidane kicks Squall's ass. Beatrix kicks everyone's asses. Brace yourself for much chirpy rambling along these lines, if you read my little blurbs about the skins.

Garnet Well, I took my sweet time about making more skins, but I wanted this game to at least stay even with FFX. It's Garnet, in her white mage garb from that long intro thing; I just liked the image, and it's hard to find good, usable FMV bits for this game. Odd color scheme, but it's okay. I hope. I don't exactly *like* the skin, but I'm not going to cry bitter tears of bitterness if I see that it's popular. Like I do for the FF8 skins.
Zidane More Zidane! Yay! I loves me some Zidane. Or "monkeyboy," as I affectionately call him... No, really, it *is* affectionate. He's a sweetie and he makes me laugh. And his trance attacks are nifty. Too young for me though. Plus, he's, you know, not real and stuff. Anyway, I'm quite happy with this skin, though it kicked my ass repeatedly in the making of it. I imagine it's a matter of taste - people with a lower tolerance for orange will probably be overcome by fear and loathing. Of course, that's a pretty normal reaction to my skins anyway. I should have done something different with the playlist, but I'm too lazy to redo it.
Beatrix Beatrix is SO COOL! Seriously, she's the first real paladin we've had since Cecil, and she's a lot better with white magic than he ever was. Could Cecil cast Holy? Or Life 2? I rest my case. Besides, her theme music is cool, and she has both Climhazard and Shock! She kicks all KINDS of ass! Bow down before Beatrix! I should make a shrine. Um. The skin itself is probably not worthy of her coolness, as the playlist continues to bug me for reasons I can't pin down. Her theme is known as both "Rose of May" and "Loss of Me" - I don't know which is right, but I chose the one that sounded better and lets me ramble about Hamlet. "Rose of May" is the phrase used to describe Ophelia, Hamlet's doomed girlfriend. Her brother Laertes calls her that after she goes crazy, because he is a big huge drama queen. (Okay, in fairness to Laertes, it would really suck to come back from college to find your dad murdered and your sister insane. It's kind of off-putting to come back and find a new refrigerator. But he's still awfully melodramatic about it.) This doesn't really have a thing to do with Beatrix, which is why it's a puzzling title for her theme, but hey, as long as it sounds cool...
Garnet Garnet's cool. Yeah, she's a mage, which is a total cliche when it comes to game girls... but in terms of personality she's one of Square's better heroines, and I think she's adorable with Zidane. I made this skin to accompany Zidane's, but I like hers better. Maybe it's the dark background. The shuffle and loop buttons are almost invisible when not pressed. Click on her clasped hands for shuffle and the poofy part of her sleeve for loop. And, yeah, cheesy title. I couldn't resist. At least I confine my worst puns to my worst skins, right?
Zidane I love Zidane. I started playing FF9 as a reprieve from FF8 (which I'm still trying to force myself through) and Zidane is such an insanely refreshing change from Squall... ::happy sigh:: It's not that good - it's very plain, especially over to the left - but hey, it has Zidane on it! It was titled after Garnet's, because I badly wanted an 80s-music theme for these two (and any others I might make along these lines.)
