Kaji was my favorite character, and I think this may be the only skin of him in existence. If only it weren't so brown.... I like it, though. Named, of course, for the Toad the Wet Sprocket song you can see in the screencap, because I always like a group's music more when their name is fun to say. Lyrics in the readme, along with further design babbling. |

Sighhhhhh.... The title comes from a line in Julius Caesar, and to be honest, I think I soldiered on with the skin because I liked the title. I have problems with that. Well, anyway... it's Shinji, and it's certainly not all blank off to the left, so I guess it's all to the good. I guess. It's... really kind of ugly. Okay, very ugly, especially the cursed playlist. Poor Shinji. He deserves better. I've had this skin sitting around, half-finished, for nearly five months now, so I just wanted to finish it and get rid of it. At long last, I can. |

At first I didn't intend to make any skins of Rei, since she's insanely popular and has tons of skins and so on and so forth. But she's so easy to work with... she has a really simple color scheme and she's in a lot of the merchandise. I couldn't resist all the blue. I'd had this sitting around waiting to be skinned for months and months, and I made a few abortive tries at it. Then I took a break from my busy schedule of pretending I didn't have to write a final paper for my Late Modernists class to finish it off, and I'm fairly happy with it. Blue is pretty. This looks best with the equalizer open. I had about four hours of sleep, so I have even fewer intelligent or even coherent things to say than usual. I really WILL get around to the Eva guys, though. Someday. I swear. Um, yeah, the title. I took it from a novella by Banana Yoshimoto, but she took it from a song I'm downloading at the moment, so I guess that's the ultimate source. Wheee. Apparently it's also a Soul Edge/Blade track. |

I began work on this image when I was planning to make a site called "Fanservice" that would also include wallpapers and MP3s for download. Then I realized that people with slow modems shouldn't make MP3 sites, and people with no design sense shouldn't make wallpapers, so the skins were all I had left, and this image wasn't needed for the Fanservice layout any longer. Later I made it into a layout for my collective. Misato's rear and I work well together, I guess. Not perfect, but I kind of like it. The title comes from a line in "Fall Down" by Toad the Wet Sprocket, because Misato vaguely reminds me of Rayanne Graff. She was a hyper, substance-abusing character from the best American TV show ever, My So-Called Life, and the song played during this part where she ran around school drunk planning a party. The song and Rayanne are both linked to Misato in my mind, although Misato's not as openly self-destructive. |

I fondly nicknamed this image "Asuka in hell" when I was trying to make a layout with it. (I failed in the end.) Then I downloaded and listened to "Komm, susser Tod," which put me in a really good mood for some obscure reason, and I made a couple of wallpapers I can no longer post here for reasons of space. Then my brother somehow got hold of a bunch of anime music videos and burned them to CD, and that's how I got to see Kevin Caldwell's Asuka video - which is set to a song called "Engel" by Rammstein. And I thought "That's a better title than 'Asuka in Hell'" so I used that instead, and made a skin with it. While listening to "Komm, susser Tod," but whatever. I'm very happy with this one - everything worked out well, and the image is neat, in a creepy way.
It's probably worth noting that this skin is pretty clearly the most insanely popular I've ever created. Um... I don't get it. It's not bad, but it's not *that* good. I have other skins involving jailbait. What's the deal with *this* one? |
