I'm not really a big Escaflowne fan anymore - I watched it years ago, liked it well enough, but never really adored it. I've never watched the American dub broadcast. But I purchased a couple of doujinshi, and I cannot resist the lure of pretty, skinnable, shoujo-y artwork, no matter what series it's for. So here you get a couple of Van skins, because while I'm not a Van loyalist, apparently most of the Asuka mangaka are... he, Folken, and Merle dominated the color illustrations. Weird. Also a couple of movie-style skins, because Tsubasa no Kami has a good gallery. Click here for the second page of skins.

This concludes the doujinshi skin set - it's the last of the skinnable color illustrations. This one's by Hiroko Tohda. The name doesn't ring a bell with me, but then, I don't know that much about manga. This one sat around on my hard drive for a month before I finally buckled down and finished it. I hated it during the making of it, but it all came together much better than I would have expected. And I have offially scraped the bottom of the barrel on vaguely Van-related titles. I mean, Dragon Wings?! He's not even winged in this picture! I have no idea what I was thinking. Whatever. Hope you all like it. |

And another movie-style skin! I'll get to the original artwork and the other characters, I swear. Someday. ^^; This was just another where I looked at the image, said to myself "that should skin well..." and went with it. I actually intended it as a gift for the people who visit my poor, neglected Van x Hitomi site, but I'm posting it here first, because that's what my priorities are like. It's *insanely* pink and lovey and coupley and all of that. I am not responsible for any tooth decay you may sustain. The boring title is not my fault, either. It is the fault of the Tarot card system, as this was "The Lovers" from the Esca movie tarot card set. |

Movie Hitomi - I seem to have some mental block keeping me from working with the original TV series artwork. The title comes from a completely unrelated video game. I dunno, it involves dragons, but I didn't have that in mind - I was just thinking, "Blue." The skin's nothing terribly creative, and the playlist (as usual) is plain, but the skin as a whole is pretty and blue and I like it. The only downside is that I had to cut out so much of the original image - the background featured a skeleton of a winged creature (presumably a dragon) which is hard to make out now. Note: The screencap is basically good, but it did some weird crap to Hitomi's leg, making it look like she has some bizarre rash. Ignore that. Credit for the original image goes to Tsubasa no Kami. Go visit it for more Esca movie info. |

Another doujinshi Van (see below) this one by Higuri You. Isn't the image nifty? The skin, not so much. But it'll do, I guess. It has yummy Van (and I'm not usually much of a Van girl,) and the expected boring playlist, and most but not all of the buttons work. |

The playlist kind of bothers me, but the body of the skin is nice - Van, as drawn by Sugisaki Yukiru. I don't actually know anything about DNAngel, other than "It makes for some nice skins," but I recognized the name, at least... This image appeared in a doujin anthology published by Asuka (the company, not the Eva chick) and I didn't want to clutter it up with a lot of buttons and bars. So it's a nice image, but as a skin it kind of sucks. The screencap's not great, but not as bad as it could be. |
